iPhoto on iPad 1

At the press event for the new iPad, Apple also announced the release of iPhoto for iOS devices. However, similar to its strategy with Siri, the company chose not to make the app available for older versions of iPad – such as iPad 1. However, the owners of the first generation of iPad need not to worry, as with a simple hack they can also have iPhoto on their iPads. In this article we will explain how to install iPhoto on iPad 1.

How to Install iPhoto on iPad 1

In order to install iPhoto on iPad 1, do the following:

  1. Download iPhoto for iOS through iTunes on your computer.
  2. Now download Apple’s iPhone Configuration Utility. This is a free utility. After downloading install it on your computer.
  3. Now plug in your iPad and sync it with iTunes.
  4. After the syncing has finished, launch the iPhone Configuration Utility.
  5. Within the utility, select the “Applications” section in the left hand pane and then click “Add” in the top bar.
  6. Now find the iPhoto app that you downloaded in Step 1 and add it. For Mac users iPhoto would be in “Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications.”
  7. Select your iPad once again from the left hand pane and then go to the “Applications” tab.
  8. Now scroll through your apps and look for iPhoto. Click on “Install.”
  9. Let it install, once its done you will be able to have iPhoto on your first generation iPad.

The downside of this entire process is that every time you will sync your iPad with iTunes, iPhoto will get removed from your iPad since it is not officially supported by Apple. The best alternative to this might be to upgrade to the new iPad.
