How to Enable Multiple User Accounts on iPad
iPad has many versatile features among which multiple user account is one of the most distinct one for all those enthusiasts willing to share their iPads with more than one user. This feature allows one iPad to be shared with multiple users all of whom would have complete privacy. This enables you to share your iPad with your parents and with your children or even with your wife. Multiple user account feature allows each user to completely customize the wallpapers, settings, apps, springboard etc without anybody else’s interference.
So far, multi-user account feature has not appeared in the official iOS. Instead, there is an app in Cydia for you to accomplish this. If you have Jailbroken your iPad, you can easily access Cydia apps which will enable this feature for you to switch between multiple user accounts on the same iPad.
Note: If you have no idea what is Jailbreaking, spare some time to visit www.jailbreakme.com, because its web based descriptive jailbreak method is as simple as abc. Just make sure to backup your personal data before starting the Jailbreak and ensure not to perform it without any backup. We also suggest you to spare some time and go through our comprehensive iPad User Guide.
The app is called iUsers and here’s how to download and use it:
- Open Cydia and press “Add”
- Write “cydia.iblogeek.com” to save this link as a new repository
- Now you may search for iUsers
How to Enable Multiple User Accounts on iPad
- Press Settings and Choose Extensions and select iUsers.
- Now you can add users by tapping add user and by selecting a passcode. Furthermore, you can choose to provide full or limited admin access to a user.
- After creating a new user, you can switch among different users by just going on your iPad’s lock screen and tapping on the Accounts button which can be located on the corner. This button will show a user selector.
This feature was first found on the source from MacStories. They claim that iUsers need to reboot Springboard in order to activate, so this is quite possible that this feature might not work with backups. So do consider this drawback before applying this handy feature. It is the most recommended feature, Apple should add into upcoming iOS firmware since iOS 5 has already introduced a lot of features that eliminate the need for a jailbreak.
