If you are an active Facebook user, it may be common for you to receive friend requests frequently from members of your family, friends, coworkers, ex-colleagues and other acquaintances who may have recently discovered the social network. This could be a problem if you want to hide your online presence from a group of people or from a particular person.

You may want to hide your facebook activities from a particular group of your friends. For example, there may be some things that you dont want your parents or family members to see, but want to share it only with your close friends. Consequently their might be photos or videos that you only want your family to see and not your friends and so on.

Facebook allows users to create different groups and assign your friends on Facebook to these groups. Each of these groups can then be configured to have certain access rights, making it possible for users to share certain content with a particular group and hide it from everyone else. To keep your online activities confine to your close friends, you have to follow the following steps:

  3. Facebook shares all your information with all of your friends and networks by default. Now, you can limit or extend the information sharing of your account. For example, you can share your information and online activities with your friends and their friends.   4. You can also select privacy settings for your status updates as you may not want to share your status updates with few of your contacts. For this, you can select ‘Custom’ from the drop down menu.
  5. You can also create a “except these people’ list by typing the name of every individual you want to keep in your ‘except these people’ list. This can limit the access of these individuals to your status updates.
